Ask a Doctor: Improving your face without a face-lift

Q. I want to improve the appearance of my face and neck but don't want a face-lift. What are other options to perk up my appearance?

A. There are many options for facial rejuvenation. A face-lift is an excellent procedure but may not be right for everyone. Some patients are not good candidates due to other medical conditions or are not ready to commit to the procedure. There are several options for facial rejuvenation that are less invasive and require less down time. Certain patients may be very pleased with a combination of fractional laser facial treatment and a longer lasting injectible such as Sculptra. Others may benefit from SmartLipo to the neck/lower face or other filler injectibles like Juvederm or Restylane. Fat injections are another option. Botox injections performed correctly may give a very nice lift to the forehead area and open up the eyes.
