Mike Compton served as chief of staff for former mayor Bob Corker from 2001-2005
The Hamilton County Commission will vote this morning on the nomination of Mike Compton as county mayor chief of staff, Mayor Jim Coppinger said.
“He brings a lot to the table from both the public and private sector,” Coppinger said.
If approved, Compton would fill the role once occupied by Jeannine Alday, who retired this month.
Compton currently works as chief administrative officer for Walden Security, which has a contract to provide security services for the county. He served as chief of staff for former Mayor Bob Corker from 2001-05 and held a position as vice president for Corker Group Inc. for more than 20 years.

We do not need these people paying each other off with six figure jobs after stealing an election. Just the other day we found out that the guys who orchestrated Coppinger's appointment got paid $328,000 for a website.
How is it that these people are getting appointed to six figure jobs other citizens could do, without there being an open and fair hiring practice?
You cannot just steal an office and pay off your friends these huge sums with tax dollars.
Sandy Bell for Chief of Staff. At least he is not corrupt.
Outgoing Chief of Staff's pay? $142,000.
Recent website payment for former Mayor Kinsey's design firm, after his activities in November helped get Coppinger appointed? $328,000.
Median annual income of individual males in Chattanooga? Near $32,000.
It's time we stop corruption by limiting our payments to these people back down to reasonable levels. Why are we paying them six figures for paying themselves and appointing their friends to be paid six figures? All the while, they claim that there is not enough money to operate police cars, mental illness halfway houses, or generally take care of business.
While they do need a salary for their work, they don't need to live better than the average person in this area. They don't need to fail to engage in fair hiring practices that would open these jobs up to the public. And, they don't need to generally take taxpayer money and use it for their personal expenses.
