Layoffs strike 20 Parkridge staff members

More than 20 Parkridge Health System employees lost their jobs Tuesday, as the 2,000-employee hospital cut its staff to trim expenses. The layoffs were in various areas of the hospital but did not affect employees who work directly with patients in clinical settings, spokeswoman Alison Counts said.

"Despite the hard work of our hospital leadership to efficiently manage expenses and adjust staffing, additional adjustments were required," she said. "Our main focus (for the job cuts) were nonclinical positions."

Counts said no additional layoffs are planned at the HCA-owned hospital.
