Police debunk 'road rage' shooting on I-40

KNOXVILLE - Further investigation this morning by police has shown a reported road rage shooting on a downtown portion of Interstate 40 to be bogus, a spokesman said.

"It is not a road rage incident," Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said this morning.

DeBusk said the alleged victim in the shooting "has changed his story several times."

KPD Sgt. Shawn Neal said officers were alerted about 5 a.m. of the shooting on I-40 east near the Henley Street exit. Officers initially labeled the shooting as a road rage incident.
