Mocs' season ends

Jordan Miller scored 21 points to lead Furman to an 61-52 win over Chattanooga in the Southern Conference quarterfinals on Saturday.

Amu Saaka scored 15 points, and Darryl Evans added 14 points for the Paladins who will face either top-seed College of Charleston or Elon on Sunday.

Chattanooga guard Keegan Bell scored 20 points, Omar Wattad and Ricky Taylor scored 12 points for the Mocs who played on their home court, McKenzie Arena.

Furman (22-9) limited UTC to 16-of-51 (31.4 percent) from the floor. Chattanooga also missed 14 of 29 free throws.

Chattanooga (16-16) trailed 13-0 before scoring its first points of the game more than five minutes in. The Mocs pulled to within 22-20 before Furman edged out to a 30-24 lead at halftime. Chattanooga was within three points before Furman went on a 12-3 run.

Furman played without its second leading scorer, Noah States, who began suffering back-spasms on Friday night.
