NY border agents say "baby bump" was really drugs

BUFFALO, N.Y. - A 25-year-old Georgia woman faces federal drug-smuggling charges after border agents say she concealed 34,000 Ecstasy pills inside her body suit, making it appear she was very pregnant.

Thomas Rusert, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman, tells the Buffalo News that agents at the Peace Bridge from Canada into Buffalo became suspicious when they questioned Leann Corley of Stone Mountain, Ga., late Thursday night.

After searching her, officers discovered that what they thought was a "baby bump" was really 21 pounds of illegal pills packed in plastic bags under Corley's clothing.

Authorities called it one of the more unusual smuggling attempts at the bridge in recent years.

Border officials didn't know if Corley has a lawyer yet.
