Suspect sought in bank robbery

The First Tennessee Bank branch on Hamilton Place Boulevard was robbed Monday morning.

A man in a leather coat and a maroon ball cap passed a teller a note, demanding money, said Chattanooga police spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Royval. The note stated he had a weapon, but none was seen, she said, and no one was injured.

The suspect is described as black, age 30 to 40, with some facial hair.

Man wanted in assault case

Investigators are seeking a man they believe is armed and dangerous, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

John E. Stokes, 40, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and attempted first-degree murder relating to an assault Feb. 16 at 10527 Collins Road, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

Stokes is described as white, 6 feet 2 inches and 220 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

A second suspect involved, James Davis, is in custody

Investigators are asking anyone with information on Stokes' whereabouts to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office at 423-209 or 423-209-8940.

Men charged in robbery

Two men were arrested Monday after police say they broke into Tennessee Title Loans on Highway 58 to steal gas money, according to a Chattanooga police arrest report.

According to the report, Darien Clay and Dejuan Davis hid outside the office Thursday until closing time, when Clay approached employees with a gun and demanded money. They got away with about $150 and credit cards, which Clay, Davis and another friend then split to buy gas for their vehicles, the report states.

Both were charged with aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery.
