The Tennessee Supreme Court has disbarred Chattanooga attorney Jes Beard.

A news release from the court today said Beard "violated disciplinary rules by ignoring conflicts of interest between clients, by taking action to the detriment of one client in order to gain an advantage for another client, by improperly communicating with a person represented by another lawyer, by failing to competently and diligently represent his clients, and by failing to properly communicate the status of a case to a client. Mr. Beard also continually failed to respond to disciplinary counsel."

The court cited a number of violations of the rules of profession conduct including:

1.1 Competence

1.3 Diligence

1.4 Communication

1.7()a Conflict of interest

3.2 Expediting litigation

3.3(a) Candor toward the tribunal

4.1 Truthfulness and candor in statements to others

4.2 Communication with a person represented by counsel

8.4 Misconduct.

The court acted on March 3, the release stated. Beard was ordered to pay all costs of the action.

Beard's law license was suspended for two years in 2007 for violating rules of professional responsibility in three cases, news archives show.
