McMinn Central dominates

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Top-ranked McMinn Central dominated the post area on its way to a 62-48 victory over David Lipscomb in the quarterfinals of the girls’ Class AA state tournament at Middle Tennessee State University.

Post players Jenna Adams and Elizabeth Massengil combined for 44 of the Chargerettes’ points, including 26 of the team’s 35 second-half points. Adams, a Miss Basketball finalist, finished with 23 points and seven rebounds and Massengil had 21, making 8-of-10 field goals.

McMinn Central (33-1), which never trailed, will play the winner of Cannon County vs. Elizabethton in Friday’s semifinals at 3:30 (EST).
