Manifest stretches into two nights

Friday, March 11, 2011

Manifest, a monthly arts showcase held at The CampHouse, 1427 Williams St., will offer back-to-back events this weekend.

Tonight is Manifest V: Juxtapose, featuring two of Chattanooga's premier singer/songwriters. Host Christian J. Collier says Ryan Oyer and Darren Johnson will split the evening playing new songs, some of their most popular older material and a few covers. Collier will perform a set of poetry between acts.

Before moving to Chattanooga, Johnson played a number of big festivals all over the Northwest and released several records. Oyer released "Come Together," his debut album, in January 2010, and is at work on his 2011 project.

Saturday is a special event dubbed Manifest Presents, showcasing Two People Playing Music. The Florida-based band, composed of keyboardist Chase Hudson and drummer Sean Sullivan, is touring in support of new record "While No One's Watching." They will be sharing the bill with Chattanooga band The Hearts In Light, whose debut album is to be released this year.

For each show, doors open at 8 p.m. and performances begin at 9. Admission to either is $8. Tonight, clothing donations will be accepted for Chattanooga Goodwill Industries.
