Two people were injured in shootings early Sunday morning, bringing the tally of shootings in the Chattanooga area over the past 10 days to seven.

Sharron Arnold, 23, told Chattanooga police he was standing outside his car at the Stepping Out Club at 4295 Shallowford Road about 5:30 a.m. when he was shot in the calf and thigh, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Two other men, David Craddock Jr., 21, and Reginald Yearby Jr., 19, told police they were riding by the club when gunfire erupted. They said they drove to the Harriett Tubman Homes where they called Saundra Williams, 20, to pick them up. The three were driving in the area of 1800 N. Hawthorne St. when their vehicle was shot at again and Williams was hit in the shoulder and face, Weary said.

The wounded were treated at local hospitals, and neither has life-threatening injuries, Weary said.

The motives for the shootings are unknown, and there are no suspects. Weary said it is unclear whether any of the past week’s shootings are related, or how many are affiliated with gang activity.

“We’re seeing an increased number of crimes committed by younger offenders,” Weary said. “We’re beefing up patrol. We’re monitoring gangs. But regardless of whether we identify young adults as being gang members, we can’t arrest them unless they commit an offense. In order for things to change, parents are going to have to do more to monitor their kids.”

There have been 11 shootings with injuries reported in Chattanooga this year, according to newspaper records. At this time last year, there were 15.

48hours is correct in his/her assessment of the situation, however, the grammar and spelling are atrocious.

I can't even follow this rambling rant. Though the burp involving "little pecker" and "sagging boobs" did make me laugh quite out-loudly. I predict that "48hours" won't last for much longer than, well....

I think most folks that know who Valentino Liberace was, would agree that he was at the very least a talented pianist.

lf this trend continues then this summer could be really bad around town. Violent crime exists in all communities but it seems to be daily occurrence down town. However, look at the locations and the trend seems to be that crime is becoming more common in outlying areas. Shallowford, brainerd, lee hwy seem to be deteriorating rapidly. I wonder if the folks at VW, Alstom, Westinghouse, etc. are wondering just what it is that they have signed up for. The city has so much promise right now and its a shame that the constant drum beat of violence could ruin it.

I think gangs are very bad, mmmkay.

I also think that folks that have nothing better to do with their time than participate in gang activity, should be rounded up, ground into soylint, and shipped off to impoverished areas to help out as an emergency food product for near death/starving peoples.... mmmkay
