FBI investigates armored car shooting in Ga.

ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say an armored car worker who had just made a pickup at a north DeKalb County grocery store was shot and killed as he left the store.

FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett said the armed gunman shot the Garda Armored Car worker several times and took an undisclosed amount of money. He said the gunman then jumped into a waiting car, then abandoned that vehicle and fled. Authorities are now probing that vehicle for evidence.

Garda is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the robbery. The company said it is cooperating with law enforcement and can't provide any additional details.

Investigators say the shooting was captured on security cameras.

Emmett said the shooting may have been linked to at least six other unsolved armored car robberies in the metro Atlanta area within the last six months.

One of those was a shooting in January in south DeKalb County that left another armored car guard injured. There have also been robberies of armored car drivers in Buford, Snellville, Marietta and northwest Atlanta since September 2010 that investigators believe are connected with Tuesday's shooting.
