Despite struggling with flu symptoms, Lauren Alaina Suddeth turned that rasp in her voice to her advantage for her performance on Wednesday night’s episode of “American Idol.”
Suddeth belted out Melissa Etheridge’s 1994 hit, “I’m the Only One,” in keeping with the night's theme of songs from the years the finalists were born.
Jennifer Lopez told her the performance was “very nice, she made the song her own.” Steven Tyler called her “a shining star,” and Randy Jackson said the performance showed the Lauren they knew and loved.
Viewers will learn during tonight’s results show who advances and who is sent packing. The show airs at 8 p.m. on FOX.
Host Ryan Seacrest announced that iTunes download sales of the 12 finalists’ performances will be donated to the American Red Cross to assist relief efforts in Japan.
