Judge delays hearing in Ala. gambling probe

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A federal court hearing in Alabama's gambling corruption probe is being delayed briefly because prosecutors haven't given enough records to defense lawyers.

Magistrate Judge Wallace Capel Jr. halted a hearing Tuesday after learning the defense hadn't received some records from FBI wiretaps on the phones of casino owners Milton McGregor and Ronnie Gilley.

The judge says the hearing will resume later in the day after the records are handed over.

The hearing involves a request by defense attorneys to block the use of some recordings from the wiretaps. The two casino owners and eight other people are scheduled for trial in June.
