An Athens, Tenn., man has been arrested after he attempted to set fire to a police officer.
Ronald Fisher was charged with attempted second-degree murder on Tuesday, authorities said.
When officers arrived at Fisher’s house on a disturbance call, he became very upset and began to douse his bed and the officer with lighter fluid, said Athens Detective Sgt. Heith Willis. As Fisher tried to set fire to the officer with a lighter, another officer tackled him, Willis said.
The police department is going to request a mental evaluation for Fisher, Willis said.
