Police Briefs: 2 sought in alley shooting, 23 face charges in gambling raid

Two sought in alley shooting

A late Tuesday night shooting left a 21-year-old man with four gunshot wounds, according to the Chattanooga Police Department.

Edward Rollins was walking home from a friend's house about 11:30 p.m. when he entered an alley near 3825 Highland Ave., police said.

Rollins told police that he saw two people walking toward him and then one of them chambered a round into a chrome-plated handgun.

When Rollins turned around to run he was struck by multiple bullets in the thigh, ankle, arm and right index finger, police said.

Rollins is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Rollins wasn't able to see the face of the two suspects and was unable to give a description, according to a news release from the police department.

Investigators are examining evidence from the scene and are looking for witnesses that may know more about the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 423-698-2525.

23 face charges after gambling raid

Chattanooga police served warrants to 23 people after busting a gambling operation on Brainerd Road on Monday night, according to police spokeswoman Jerri Weary.
