* Date founded or organized: Joined Hamilton County in 1919 when James County merged with Hamilton and Bradley counties.

* Landmarks or geographic features: The James County Courthouse, built in 1913.

* Historic info: Ooltewah was the seat of James County, Tenn., which in 1919 merged with Hamilton and Bradley counties because James County did not have sufficient money to support its infrastructure. Now it's one of the fastest-expanding areas in Hamilton County.

* Schools: Ooltewah Elementary School, Wolftever Creek Elementary School, Ooltewah Middle School, Ooltewah High School.
