Deputies in DeKalb County, Ala., are searching for a man suspected of being involved in a shooting off County Road 85 on Monday.
Jeffery Steven Williams was shot in the arm with a handgun Monday afternoon, then crashed his car on the way to the hospital, said Sheriff Jimmy Harris in a news release.
Authorities are now searching for Shawn Ray Willis, who is suspected of shooting Williams about two miles away from the scene of William’s wreck, Harris said.
As Williams was trying to get to the hospital, he swerved off the road just outside Fort Payne city limits, Harris said. When paramedics responded to the accident, they found Williams with a gunshot wound in the arm, Harris said.
He is now in serious condition at Huntsville Hospital, Harris said, but is expected to recover.
Police advise that Willis could be armed.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Willis should contact the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office at 256-845-3801.
