A man and a woman were arrested today in connection with a shooting in DeKalb County, Ala., authorities said.

Shawn Ray Willis and Jennifer Ann Lawson were arrested earlier today, said Stanna Guice, spokeswoman for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The exact charges were not immediately released.

They are suspects in the shooting of Jeffery Steven Williams, who was shot in the arm with a handgun on Monday, then crashed his car on the way to the hospital, she said.

Willis and Lawson were spotted walking in the area of County Road 165 on Lookout Mountain, she said. Officers from Desoto State Park located them near Alpine Bridge and took them into custody without incident.

Williams is in serious condition at Huntsville Hospital but continuing to improve, authorities said.

The investigation is still ongoing and more details will be forthcoming, Guice said.

Williams' condition is continuing to improve.
