Dede Neely was charged with voluntary manslaughter after she told police she shot boyfriend Brian Cofer at 1483 Highway 58 in the Georgetown community on Jan. 12.

She and Cofer fought the night before and Cofer threatened her with a gun, she told police.

The argument flared up again the next day. This time, Cofer came at her with a .22-caliber rifle, she told police.

Shortly after Cofer put the weapon down, Neely picked it up and fatally shot him in his father's bedroom in front of his father, brother and the daughter, police report.

After her charges were upgraded, Neely was found at her 1500 Johnson Blvd. home on Wednesday and taken into custody without incident.
