Chattanooga: EPB Restoration Effort Update

Below is the latest update on EPB's power restoration effort:

If you are without power and have not notified us, please call us at 648-1372 to make sure we know your power is out.

There are a little more than 7,500 homes and business still without power. But that is still 7,500 too many - we will work until power has been restored to all customers.

We'd like to encourage customers to follow us on Twitter at EPB_Chattanooga or on Facebook at EPB of Chattanooga to receive updates on our storm restoration.

The damage from the April 27 tornadoes was unprecedented in both scale and severity. So far, we have identified 535 broken utility poles (we expect that number to rise before the restoration is complete), 341 damaged transformers, and have replaced over 30 miles of wire. (By comparison, during the Blizzard of '93 we replaced only 89 broken utility poles.)

We have over 1,500 people in the field - including EPB employees, contractors, retirees and hundreds of workers from out of town - working 24/7 to get power restored to all of our customers.

Because of the massive damage that needs to be repaired, we anticipate that it will be tomorrow (Thursday) before all customers in the service area have power.

We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this difficult time. We will continue to work until power has been restored to all of our customers.

We would also like to reassure customers that we realize in many areas we have left behind equipment and materials, such as transformer and broken pole parts. Once all customers are back on, we will return to clean up these materials. Thank you for your patience!
