Face lifts are the only way to get rid of jowls

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Q. I am 62 and have little pockets, or jowls, close to my chin area and loose skin on my neck. I would like to get rid of the jowls and tighten my neck, but I'm not crazy about the idea of a face-lift. Is there another way to correct the problems?

A. The situations you are describing are caused by a loss of volume and falling of the muscle layers of the face and neck. As one ages, there is a progressive loss of elasticity. A lifting procedure is really the only way to correct these problems to create a natural appearance. Most all of the noninvasive techniques are very temporary and will not address the problems you describe, but the techniques of face-lifts have improved and most of your fears and apprehensions can be eliminated with the right surgeon.
