Toyota gives cash for storm relief

Toyota's North American affiliates announced Friday they have donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to help people affected by last week's tornados. Toyota said it will match employee donations and will provide additional help to Toyota employees who lost homes as a result of the tornados.

"Since we have manufacturing plants, suppliers and many dealerships in the regions that were hit the hardest, we felt a special responsibility to lend a hand," said Yoshi Inaba, president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motor North America Inc.

Lawyers prepare fight against GreenBank sale

A day after the parent company of GreenBank in Tennessee agreed to sell more than 90 percent of its stock to the Charlotte, N.C.-based North American Financial Holdings Inc. for $217 million, four law firms announced plans Friday to investigate the deal and possibly sue the Greeneville, Tenn.-based banking firm.

The purchase offer is equal to $2.23 per share, which is at least a third below the $3.74 per share price that Green Bankshares traded at as recently as Jan. 25.

The law firms of Brodsky & Smith in Bala Cyndwyd, Pa; Levi & Korinsky in New York; Weiss & Lurie in Los Angeles; and Robbins Umedia LLP in San Diego said Friday they are soliciting shareholders upset with the deal for a possible lawsuit. The lawyers claim the offer is not in the best interests of shareholders of Green Bankshares.
