Updated: Chattanooga Police find missing girls

Chattanooga Police say they have found the two missing girls who went missing last night around 8 p.m.

The girls were found hiding under their neighbor’s 12-year-old daughter’s bed, according to a police official.

Police said Kavisha told investigators that someone was chasing her so she and her cousin ran to the 12-year-old neighbor who told them to hide under the bed.

It’s believed that the pair fell asleep while hiding, police said.

Kavisha Smith, 6, and Jatasia Madry, 4, were playing with brothers of Kavisha in a neighboring yard near their family home last night, according to the mother of one of the children.

Around 7:45 p.m. the girls were sent back to their home and continued to play on the porch where Kavisha's mother could hear them playing, according to police report.

At 8 p.m. Kavisha's mother noticed the girls were missing and a search by immediate family members began, resulting in a call to police at 10 p.m., according to police report.

The girls were returned to their families after being found this morning. Investigators are still working on the case but no charges are expected to be filed.

I'm glad the little girls were found safely. I hope this case will be kept in mind the next time some say that police don't take seriously missing-persons cases if they're a certain type of people. The authorities swung into action in this instance in a creditable fashion.
