Gail Palmgren was last seen driving a crimson-red Rubicon Jeep with a back tire cover that says "Life is Good" in the shape of a daisy and a personalized Alabama tag reading, "EAZY ST." Matthew Palmgren, the husband of a Signal Mountain woman who has been missing since April 30, has been put on administrative leave with pay by his employer, BlueCross Blue Shield of Tennessee, Palmgren’s attorney said today.
Palmgren works as the director of pharmacy programs for BlueCross’ government business and emerging markets business unit.
Attorney Bryan Hoss said Palmgren has been cooperating fully with the search for his wife, 44-year-old Gail Palmgren.
“I think that it’s very important that this is being treated as a missing persons case,” Hoss said.
Police have released no details about the search and no charges have been filed.
Matthew Palmgren told police that his wife left their children, ages 9 and 12, alone at their home at 40 Rockridge Drive on April 30. Her crimson-red Rubicon Jeep also was missing.
Two days later, at the urging Gail Palmgren’s family, he filed a missing persons report with the Signal Mountain Police Department. The report came only days after police responded to arguments between the Palmgrens at their home on April 29 and April 22.
On May 6, Matthew Palmgren filed documents in Hamilton County Chancery Court, requesting a legal separation from his wife, asking for exclusive use of their home and temporary custody of the children. A chancellor is scheduled to rule on the motions.

Why is he on leave? He hasn't been looking for Gail. If he was looking for her I could understand, but he's not, so why doesn't he just go to work? He's not looking for her, he's too busy filing for divorce, custody, and freezing bank accounts.
Sounds like his employer made that decision, not him. Now he gets to do whatever and still be paid. I still feel something is not right with his actions.
I think he knows where she is! He either paid someone to maker her disappear or he did it himself. Either way, I feel deep inside that he knows what has happened to her!
This is a tough one. In some ways, his actions are in keeping with some of the reports that have surfaced regarding her behavior. Don't get me wrong, all of the past Scott what's their names should be put down like rabid dogs, in my opinion. Same with that pig, Parker, in Lafayette. This case seems somewhat different. I hope this woman is just AWOL, for her sake as well as her kids. More in-depth reporting would be helpful, rather than the podunk sensationalism that gets spewed out locally.
Considering who his employer is, they made a good call by putting him on leave. Now regarding the issue of "with pay..." How do they think their subscribers will feel knowing the man is still on the payroll? Don't we pay enough for health care coverage as it is? There are far too many unanswered questions with his wife's disappearance to merit him still being paid while not performing his duties. And his attorney can complain until the cows come home. His word means absolutely nothing.
Though I do pray Gail is found in one living piece, how dare Blue Cross continue to pay him under these circumstances.
I love how Matt is still on Blue Cross's pay-role after all of this. Especially since he was cheating on Gail with a co-worker of Blue Cross. Gail hired a PI to watch Matt and caught him with that woman in several hotels.
Why hasn't he taken a polygraph? The spouse is always the number one suspect.
