No ‘President Trump’

Donald Trump has been in the headlines for many years and for many reasons, often because of his adventures in financial matters. But he also has enjoyed putting himself forward as a potential candidate for president.

That has encouraged some and frightened others, while some took it all as a joke.

Well, there had been signs that “The Donald,” as some call him, was serious about running in 2012.

But now, after his obvious pleasure in flirting with a presidential race, the billionaire building and TV personality has ended any suspense. Trump announced that “business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.”

So he will not be seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

Do you believe that will cause President Barack Obama to heave a secret sigh of relief, or just to smile?

Obama is running for a second term in the White House. And now we know that Trump won’t be. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has dropped out, too. So who is running?

Some of the more prominent Republican prospects so far are Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and Herman Cain.

Is any of them, or Obama, the best candidate for president that the American people can produce?
