Rick Smith named interim schools chief

Hamilton County school board members have voted to appoint Rick Smith as interim superintendent.

The 5-4 vote will install Smith after June 10 when current Superintendent Jim Scales leaves.

Rhonda Thurman, Everett Fairchild, David Testerman, Mike Evatt voted for the appointment. George Ricks, Jeffrey Wilson, Linda Mosley voted no.

Well, Rhonda saved her boyfriends job at a cost of $282,000 to the taxpayers! Hope the voters show her how we appreciate it!

This whole mess is like a bad joke. When will they ever mature. I think that some of the students may be much more intelligent and that isn't saying much. It is getting old.

don't think they should pay him. if he wants his money then make him work for it. as far as rick smith go i think they made a wise choice.

Trucker...that why you driving a truck...please get an professional...and not a boonie....maybe the outsider can help Hamilton County...too much good ole boy..and girl friend bs going on here...that what you get with under qualifies butts running the school systems
