Fire damages Ooltewah home

Fire crews responded this morning to a house fire in Ooltewah, officials said.

At 9:30 a.m., a neighbor called 911, reporting a possible house fire at 7943 Clara Chase Drive, said Amy Maxwell, spokeswoman for Hamilton County Emergency Services. When the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department arrived, smoke was flowing from under the eaves, she said.

Although firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, smoke made it through the entire house, she said.

The homeowner was not home at the time and no injuries were reported, Maxwell said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, she said.
