Fire officials are investigating why a house in Rossville exploded Wednesday night, blowing house pieces hundreds of yards away and scaring neighbors.
Calls flooded into 911 around 9:20 p.m., after a house at 1441 Mission Ridge Road exploded with no one inside, said Walker County Fire Marshall Waymond Westbrook.
Debris was scattered around the area and the single-story house was completely flattened, Westbrook said. The owner of the house wasn't home and officials are having difficulty locating them.
Today investigators are trying to find a cause for the explosion, but there is no clear sign since the neighborhood doesn't have any natural gas, Westbrook said. The investigators can't find any liquid propane at the home - which is highly explosive.
