2 in custody, 1 sought in Calhoun, Ga., slaying

An apparent robbery in Calhoun, Ga., ended with a fatal shooting early Saturday, the Gordon County sheriff said.

Two people have been arrested and a manhunt is on for a third, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Deputies were called about 2 a.m. to a house on Union Grove Church Road. They were told that three men came in, demanded money and then shot Jason David Hammond, age 42.

Deputies traced a vehicle the men were in and eventually took two into custody for questioning, the news release stated. A third man is still at large.

The body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, and the GBI is assisting in the case, the release stated.

This is not a gun problem...this is a people problem!!! Taking guns off the street will not end violence! People will always find ways to kill one another, thats the sad fact and is someone is dumb enough to come into my home at 2am I will gladly invoke my right to bear arms. Thank God for the constitution of the United States.

Don't just blame the guns. Right here in the Chattanooga area people have been killed with hands, feet, chains, lawn tools, landscape timbers, mops, bungee cords, knives, canned food, illegal drugs, legal drugs, trains, planes, automobiles, boats, wild animals, domesticated animals, plastic bags, water, chemical compounds, heights and bicycles. If we could just ban all these things it would be a safer world. Who really needs a car anyway? They kill a whole lot more people than guns. We have feet. You say you need to get to work? Leave early and walk. No one needs a vehicle that holds six people. Six! Pure machismo. You claim you just want to build a flower bed but what is a landscape timber really? A club. How many millions were sent to an early grave by clubs? I have seen the carnage that a landscape timber can inflict. Ban them. Ban them all I say!
