5E-Cleveland State offering small-business workshops

Cleveland State Community College's Small Business Development Center announces upcoming workshops that require registration.

All seminars will be held on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus, 3535 Adkisson Drive.

  • Monday: Business Fundamentals Workshop for Start-Ups, 10-11 a.m., free, Career Education Building, Room E-300.

This seminar will discuss basics for starting your own business, including formulating and evaluating a business concept, researching the market, resources/assistance for small businesses, self-assessment, calculating start-up costs, and developing a business plan.

  • Thursday: Borrego Springs Bank Loan Expo, 10 a.m.-noon, free, Technology Building, Room T-130.

The nationwide lender under the U.S. Small Business Administration's Preferred Lender Program, will give information on the Borrego Express Capital Loan Program, Patriot Express Loan Program and the new Export Express Loan Program.

  • Nov. 15: Career Opportunities in Franchise Ownership, 5:30-7:30 p.m., free, Technology Building, Room T-130.

Jerry Bird, East Tennessee franchise specialist with FranNet discusses how to calculate and maximize financial returns within a franchise business. This workshop also will cover misconceptions about franchising, why one should own a franchise and how to find the right franchise.
