The Chattanooga building inspection department issued 178 building permits in October for building starts valued at $19.2 million. The biggest projects:
1 Akzo Nobel SPG LLC, addition to its specialty chemical plant at 903 Mueller Ave., $6.7 million by Jake Marshall LLC
2 Archer Daniels Midland, 30,000-square-foot assembly expansion for new plant at 3063 Hickory Valley Road, $2.54 million by H&M Co.
3 Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation, third floor remodeling at 1 Siskin Drive, $1.7 million by
4 New Family Dollar Store at 5000 Brainerd Road, owned by Matt McGauley, $415,000 by Berry Construction Co.
5 Orthodontist Dr. Dennis Standifer office in the Oasis Park at 1738 Hamill Road, $400,000 by Gentech Construction Co.
