A man was charged with burglarizing a Hixson pharmacy today, police said.
William Leffew, 32, was charged with burglary, reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said.
This morning at about 7:21, a burglar alarm went off at Thrifty MedPlus Pharmacy at 8600 Hixson Pike in Hixson. Deputies and a K-9 unit arrived at the scene shortly after and found evidence that someone attempted to enter the store by kicking the door and firing several shots to the lower part of the front door, Atkinson said.
Law enforcement found property belonging to Leffew in a heavily wooded area near the pharmacy, and a short time later, deputies saw movement in the woods and saw Leffew, who had changed clothes, Atkinson said.
