Members of Occupy Chattanooga listen as Captain Roddy of Chattanooga Law Enforcement addresses them in front of the Hamilton County Court on Tuesday night. Occupy Chattanooga protesters packed up their things and moved to the Hamilton County Courthouse lawn tonight.
After eight days of camping on the lawn of the City Council Building, they moved just after the City Council meeting started at 6 p.m.
Rickie Blevins, one of the protesters, said two city officials told the group that the same rules that allowed them to protest at the City Council Building allowed them to use the courthouse lawn.
The protesters had brought in a pantry, a camping stove, a mini-library, chairs, a cork board, a white board, signs and tables, moving it all to the more-spacious courthouse lawn.

Andrew Pantazi is an intern at the Chattanooga Times Free Press who says that when he was 7 he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life: play hockey for the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately, he says he wasn't any good at hockey, so he became a journalist instead. He writes about the lives we hide, like the man who suffered a stroke but smiled, or the football walk-on who endured 5 ...

What a bunch of dumb asses. No wonder nobody will hire them.
Do they know what they're protesting yet?
ooohh let the kiddies play. Pretty soon it will be in the low 20's and they will move on to "occupy warmth" - By spring they will have moved on to protesting McDonald's getting rid of the McRib again.
This is better than their big-city counterparts who throw feces, blood and urine on people. Vandalize small businesses in the area, knock police off their motorcycles, and finally taking dumps on police cars. This is what they apparently stand for. Chaos.
(to the hipster who will deny all those things took place; I can provide news links so don't bother embarrassing yourself.)
have they seen the article about norfolk southern hiring thousands of people? yes? still doing nothing? typical.
If someone gets hurt on that Government property who will get stuck with the bill because the way I understand it if I have a large gathering at my house and someone falls and gets hurt I can be sued for their medical bills. Cause we all know they are looking for a handout!
Yawn.
They are protesting bail outs and wanting a bail out. The OccuCry Babies have arrived.
The caption on the photo is the same as one used on a previous story about this matter. It does not match the picture.
Looks like the Republitards still don't get it.
re timbo - good one bro....
re jwalidea - yes
re biofish - Im an adult.. work full time... raise a small child by myself... and own my home. Lets see your "news" links.
re - mrredskin - most of these people are employed. In fact they camp in shifts so they can also go to work.
re - ScoopAway - Yeah you are right... we shouldn't let regular people on government property... someone might get hurt!
re - oz - I dont even.... what are you talking about?
re - all you trolls... find something educational to do between watching Matlock and listening Rush Limbaugh.... also go outside sometimes.
ohh i forgot!.... payingattention. Your post has very little to do with OWS. Seems like you are just mad at COA... whatever that is.
If you are not part of Occupy Chattanooga it seems odd that you purport to know all about it. I Occupy when I'm not at work. I support the singular message to get money out of politics. We must eliminate the ability to purchase legislators and the legislation they subsequently pass. We must end the stranglehold that corporate lobbyists and career politicians have on our election process and return to self governance with an even playing field as the framers of the Constitution intended.
re - payingattention see that's the problem... I dont think Ive seen anything about "supporting" Obama. You seem to think this is anti-republican. I welcome your opinions! I also pay taxes. And if you believe large corporation bailouts are over then I just dont know what to say to you. You just dont get it.
Also I'm pretty sure nobody is sleeping in flower beds.
LOL! They have every right to organize. All of the people who constantly mock their attempts to make a statement have the right to do so. No one seems to be to concerned when a down and out person living on the street has to sleep in (i love this part) Government flower beds! Government flower beds really? It's our flower beds you nimwad! I also like the statements by "selectively payingattention" claiming these people are trying to incite something with their mouths taped over. Meanwhile this person admits to trying to instigate trouble. Then you have your hater's that assume these individuals have no jobs and they are crazy or they should line up for Norfolk southern jobs. The circus is inside the building and the clowns are the City Council members. Did someone seriously use the term "Hipster"?
How is it that Occupy and Little Chicago Watch are on opposite sides here? Don't both want corruption out of government and financial institutions among other things?
re: payingattention You are just strange. What does this have to do with anything?
I'm glad you have it all figured out and under control then. Carry on with your plans. Which are what? Continue a very small scope vendetta against Chatt city leaders, however well deserved that may be? The 99 are thinking globaly, they aren't out to "get" anyone, and even if we could be labled as liberal or progressive (which is telling about the labeler's prejudice and ignorance of the issues) then we would still have every right to protest and demand change at every level.
I applaud those here that are the 1%. I expect your ridicule and scorn at every turn. I just wish you knew how it was people like the 99 that made you rich and able to look down on us. But we have woken and won't soon, if ever go back to sleep. And I hope that keeps you up at night. It should.
Is it wrong of me to think its funny that them 0.099% of folks are getting wet?
April I did see a picture on a certain facebook page of someone sleeping at the court house and it was in the flower bed
re - payingattention - I don't believe the focus is on local government. I don't own and have never worn blue tape. You may not be talking to me... but then again... it is unclear who you are addressing. Why are you so bitter?
re - ScoopAway - Thank you for clearing that up in such an unquestionable and specific manner.
@umadro....... has a nerve been hit or did you get stung in that flower bed?
re - ScoopAway... LOL good one! OMG so Funny. I mean seriously... I have to tell that one to the folks at work! You guys are hilarious! Also... http://tinyurl.com/6pbnlcu

Visited Chattanooga over the weekend and saw the 'tent city' - more like a girl scout camp out - ooooo! I'm impressed that you have about 20 morons 'occupying' the yard. Don't these idiots have jobs or anything better to do? Go camp out at the White House! There is where the problem stems from - or the university that gave them a degree in underwater basketweaving - lots of job opportunities there, huh, bucko? This bunch of losers needs to get a life, get a job, pay their taxes and get a reality check. The DEMOCRATS are destroying this country - starting at the top. If they have a complaint, take it to Obama! The Occupy movements is the 1% - the 1% of looneys that need mental health care!
