A Chattanooga man wanted by police on charges of beating four children has been arrested, police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said in a news release.
Chattanooga police arrested James Skiles, 34, earlier this evening at an undisclosed location near Hermitage Road in Red Bank. Police had warrants for three counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of child abuse.
Skiles was suspected of beating 2-year-old twins, a 7-year-old and a 10-year-old at 4905 Jeffrey Lane, Weary said.
The children’s siblings ran to a neighbor’s house and called police after Skiles started beating them because they disobeyed him, Weary said.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found four children suffering from blunt force trauma to their whole bodies, Weary said. One child is believed to have broken a leg and two children were hospitalized.
Skiles also has been charged on six other warrants for burglary and child support. He is in the Hamilton County Jail tonight.

Leave a cell door open and shoot him escaping, or let him out to do it all again. Judge?
Where was the mother during all of this?
TFP, I believe his name is jamie and not james. jamie lee skiles.
Where were the kids parents and why the hell did we let this sicko out of prison on his first conviction of child abuse & neglect in 2000?
This guy is qualified to be a Texas Judge.
He should be flogged to within an inch of his life with a horse whip and I'm sure more than a few of you out there would be glad to volunteer if given the chance. Not to worry though ... he'll be a marked man in prison once they find out what he did to these children -- two of whom were barely out of diapers. Word on Chattanoogan.com this afternoon is one of the children is in emergency surgery now for a perforated bowel.
Update from chattanoogan: "The oldest sibling, a 13-year-old girl, said she came home from school around 4 p.m. and saw the twins and the seven-year-old boy standing, facing the wall, with their arms raised above their heads. She said that whenever one of them would put their hands down, Skiles would punch them with his fists in the trunk area of their bodies."
Made to "stand facing the wall with hands above their heads. Whenever one of them would put their hands down, Skiles would punch them with his fists in the trunk area.
Sounds like something learned in prison and jail and at the hands of prison and jail guards. At some point, many of these people are going to be let back out into the general population. How they're treated in prison will determine how they're likely to act around others and in relationships when they're released back into society.
