Baker Donelson now in Florida

Baker Donelson now in Florida

In its second major expansion in less than a month, the Tennessee law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC has expanded into Florida with the addition of the six-attorney law firm of Litchford & Christopher Professional Association.

The merger follows the firm’s move into Texas in October.

Baker, Donelson has more than 620 attorneys in 18 cities, including Chattanooga.

SUV to be built here

A German newspaper reported Thursday that Volkswagen is making plans to bolster production at its Chattanooga plant with a new sport utility vehicle.

The vehicle would have three rows of seats and offer more room than its Tiguan SUV, according to Financial Times Deutschland. The vehicle would be cheaper than its larger Touareg SUV, and the launch would be scheduled for 2015, it said.

The newspaper said Jonathan Browning, Volkswagen of America’s chief executive, did not confirm the plan at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

But he said such a model would fit well in the U.S. market and the VW brand, according to the report.
