Everything old is new Sunday when Chattanooga Market hosts its annual Antiques & Collectibles Day.

Paul Smith, market general manager, said 20 antiques and collectibles dealers will join 80 regular vendors.

Smith said the combination will offer shoppers a "good mix of locally made products and antiques and collectibles. Usually all market products must be handmade. This kind of changes the dynamic of the market."

Smith said the market's management is giving free booth space to its vendors Sunday as a holiday thank-you.

"It's been a good year, and part of that is because of the great vendors we have, so we're trying to find a way to say thanks. We encourage people to come out and shop small local businesses."

Carter Stine of Twin Auctions in Soddy-Daisy coordinated the list of antiques vendors participating.

"We've got several new ones," said Stine. "Among them, The Antiquarians on Cloud Springs Road. John Belmonte is coming from Knoxville. He has a lot of American primitives. His wife also is coming, and she handles of lot of vintage costume jewelry. I've also got Phillips Antiques from Scottsboro, Ala."

Vendors will include Bob Grove, owner of The Grove, with Christmas collectibles; J.J. Jarvis with B.J.'s Treasures; and Steve Baker of Dayton, Tenn., who buys and sells coins. Stine said he also will be giving appraisals.

"We'll be buying as well as selling," Stine said of his company, Twin Auctions. "I think I'm the only one who will be buying this year. That's good for some Christmas cash."

While browsing booths, shoppers will be entertained by Grace Adele at 12:30 p.m. and Olta at 2 p.m. Adele is part of a duo with mandolinist Keenan Wade, and for her string band, The Grand Band

Olta is a Chattanooga band comprised of Randy Walker, Rachel Lightfoot and Julie Kunesh who perform Celtic music.
