Red Bank interviews city manager candidate today

Red Bank commissioners will interview Randall Hemann today at 2 p.m. at Red Bank City Hall at 3117 Dayton Blvd.

Who should be Red Bank's new city manager?

Red Bank city commissioners will interview their fifth and final candidate for the city manager position today.

Randy Hemann, of Salisbury, N.C., is the only candidate in the commissioners' top five picks who is not from the area.

He is the only candidate with experience in municipal development, according to his resume.

As executive director of Downtown Salisbury Inc., Hemann has spent nearly 12 years at the forefront of an effort to revitalize the city of about 26,400 through economic development, real estate investments and beautification programs.

Commissioners already have interviewed Red Bank Fire Chief Mark Matthews, local CPA Randy Fairbanks, head of the Hamilton County Republican Party Marty Von Schaaf, and businessman Jim Folkner, who helped spur the movement to recall Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield.

After today's interview, commissioners plan to meet Dec. 6 to deliberate over their choice for a manager.
