Mocs meltdown gives The Citadel a win at Finley

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team allowed The Citadel to score 28 unanswered points as the Mocs lost 28-27 on Saturday night at Finley Stadium.

The Mocs' defense allowed its first points in more than eight quarters during the third period.

Bulldogs quarterback Ben Dupree scored from 1-yard out and later on a 42-yard run up the middle.

The Mocs only added a 21-yard field goal by Nick Pollard in the third quarter.

HALFTIME

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga leads The Citadel 24-0 at halftime in Finley Stadium.

UTC led 7-0 after one period. Then quarterback B.J. Coleman connected on a 60-yard touchdown pass to Ron Moore Jr.

Chris Awuah added a 1-yard touchdown run and Nick Pollard tacked on a 29-yard field goal.

The Mocs have 252 yards and its defense has limited the Bulldogs to 62 yards and none through the air.

The UTC defense has played more than eight quarters without allowing a single point.

FIRST QUARTER

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga leads The Citadel 7-0 after one period in their Southern Conference contest.

UTC senior quarterback B.J. Coleman scored on a 2-yard run with 2:59 to go in the quarter.

The Mocs' defense set up the touchdown. Defensive tackle Josh Freeman picked up a fumbled snap and rumbled 13 yards to the Bulldogs' 7-yard line.

The Mocs entered the game with an overall record of 2-2 and 0-1 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs were 1-2, and 0-2 in the SoCon.
