Update from the Classic

A little post-lunch update from the Children's Hospital Classic for those stuck inside on another beautiful afternoon for golf - playing or watching.

PGA Tour player John Mallinger missed out on the FedEx Cup playoffs and dropped down to play the rest of the year on the Nationwide Tour.

He is the leader in the clubhouse at Black Creek Club. Mallinger shot a 7-under 65 this morning and leads the tournament at 13 under.

Billy Hurley III is 11 under through 15 holes and alone in second.

First-round leader Nicholas Thompson didn't have the same success this morning as he did yesterday afternoon. He shot 1 under and is a large group at 10 under.

Among that group is 2006 Classic Champion Kyle Reifers who shot 5 under in each of the first two rounds.

Former Moc Jonathan Hodge is leading the local contingent playing in the morning wave. He's 3 under through 13 holes. He has two par 5s left to play.

The current projected cut is 3 under. I'm projecting that it will move to 4 under and possibly 5 under.

That means Luke List and Harris English need to make some birdies and eagles. The former Baylor golfers shot 2 over on Thursday.

But they can certainly do it.

Enjoy your afternoon.
