1 dead in Dawson, Ala., shooting after 'hot argument'

A man is dead and another charged with murder after a shooting Saturday night in Dawson, Ala., in DeKalb County.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release that deputies were called to County Road 150 at 9:43 p.m. CDT and found Allan Lamar Henderson, 51, of Dawson, dead of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Witnesses told investigators Henderson has been in a hot argument with Shannon David Smith, 36, also of Dawson.

Deputies took Smith into custody. He was charged with murder and taken to the the DeKalb County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond, Harris said.

Henderson’s body was taken to Huntsville for an autopsy. The case remains under investigation, Harris said.
