A warrant was issued for a Calhoun man's arrest after he was accused of making a false police report claiming he had been assaulted by two Hispanic men.

Calhoun police have arrested another man in the case.

Calhoun officers went to Gordon Hospital early Saturday to interview Jermey Wood, 26, about an assault case, Police Chief Garry Moss said in a news release.

Wood said he had been walking on East May Street Friday night when he was attacked by two men, who struck him on the head. He said they stole a ring and his wallet with $75 in cash.

But detectives found inconsistencies in Wood's story, Moss said.

When Wood was interviewed again, he admitted he had made up the story.

Dakota Lee Couch, 21, of Calhoun, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, but his connection to Wood is unclear.
