Chattanooga and the surrounding area have had a lot of economic good news in manufacturing and job creation recently.
But there is some painful news that Shaw Industries will be closing one of its Dalton, Ga., carpet plants within two months, meaning the loss of about 270 jobs.
Shaw still employs about 24,000 workers and still has scores of facilities in Georgia, fortunately, and some of the workers affected by this latest closing will be able to move to other Shaw facilities.
We hope, of course, for an economic rebound that will create opportunities for Shaw and other companies, and overcome the current losses.
