Chattanooga police charged a 21-year-old woman Thursday with abandoning her children earlier this year.
Charteta Burrell went out walking on April 2, and her sister asked where her 2-year-old and 6-month-old were. Burrell claimed they were with a baby sitter, but when the sister checked on the two children, they were alone.
When police reached Burrell, she refused to come back home for the children, and officers had been unable to find her until Thursday.
Burrell was charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect.
The children are being taken care of by their grandmother.
