CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Despite being outshot 25-7, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga beat Western Carolina 3-0 in Southern Conference women's soccer Friday night. Kelsey Swann scored for the Lady Mocs (6-7-1 1-6) from a Donna-Kay Henry assist 9:18 into the game, and Henry burst past the defense to make it 2-0 at 30:50. Crystal Mackezyk netted a Becca Smith assist at 75:39. UTC's Taylor Mangrum made 12 saves. WCU is 8-6-1, 3-4.

Volleyball

• SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Lee University, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, won 25-16, 25-10, 20-25, 25-16 over No. 11 Taylor and 25-16, 31-29, 25-17 over No. 5 Embry-Riddle in the SCAD Invitational tournament Friday. Marija Zelenovic had 16 kills on .519 hitting for the Lady Flames (20-2) against Taylor, when Arlene Ferreira and Stephanie Dodd had 10 kills apiece and 17 and 13 digs, Gretchen Higdon and Kelsey Leffew had 22 and 20 assists and Sarah Smith and Leffew had 16 and 13 digs. Zelenovic had 15 kills with a .478 percentage and Christa Hutchison added 10 kills on .529 hitting against Embry-Riddle, when Irene Ojukwu had seven kills in 10 tries, Leffew and Higdon had 20 and 19 assists, Todd made 10 digs and Lauren Williams and Ferreira took part in eight and six blocks.

• BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Bryan College stayed close to Appalachian Athletic Conference leader Union College with a 25-17, 26-24, 25-15 victory Friday at Bluefield College, which dropped to 5-18, 2-10 in the league. The Lady Lions are 13-12, 8-1.

• KNOXVILLE -- Johnson University beat Tennessee Temple 25-15, 25-8, 28-30, 25-18 in volleyball Friday, but Annie London and P.J. Sexton had 21 and 19 digs for Temple (10-18), Lynncoya Gardner set 20 assists and Rachel Binkley had eight kills and seven blocks.

• Blair Barrows, one of only two seniors on the Sewanee volleyball team, was announced Thursday as an SCAC Character and Community honoree. The Atlanta resident has helped several organizations during her college years, including serving as a volunteer for Folks at Home, Skyland Trail and the Sewanee Senior Citizens Outreach Program. She has tutored students at five area schools, and she has organized events such as the annual Turkey Trot fundraiser for the PKE sorority. "Blair has done a great job of being a servant-leader to the volleyball team," coach Jessica Cortese said in a Sewanee release. "As a captain ... she is always one of the first players to go the extra distance for the team. She is always willing to learn."

Tennis

• UTC women's tennis players went 13-0 in two tournaments Friday. Senior Shaina Singh, junior Jenna Nurik and freshman Kaylene Chadwell each won two qualifying singles matches in the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals at Memphis to join sophomore Alexa Flynn in the main draw, and Nurik and Chadwell won twice in doubles as well. In the Roberta Alison Fall Classic at Tuscaloosa, Ala., the Lady Mocs' Emily Hangstefer and Brianna Wishing won two singles matches apiece and teamed for an 8-3 doubles victory.

UTC Home Sports

• UTC all-conference seniors Chris Berry and Tara Gietema will be running in their final home cross country meet in the Front Runner Invitational today on the Moccasin Bend course. The women's two-mile race will start at 3:30 p.m., the men's 5k at 4. UTC's wrestling and softball teams will have 11 a.m. exhibitions against alumni from those programs -- at McKenzie Arena and Jim Frost Stadium, respectively -- and the volleyball team will host the College of Charleston at 2 in Maclellan Gym.

Football

• Sewanee is one of the schools leaving the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after this academic year, and DePauw is in its first year out of the league, but the two sets of football Tigers will meet today for the 14th year in a row. The game is at Sewanee, starting at 1 p.m. CDT, and DePauw holds a 12-1 series lead with a 35-7 win in 2010 after a 3-0 rainy-day victory the year before on the Mountain. But the Indiana school is struggling this season, having lost three times and averaging only 14.3 points a game.

Rugby

• The Chattanooga Rugby Club is holding its 33rd Reunion game today at 1 p.m. at Hutcheson Memorial Field in Rossville -- the Rossville High School stadium -- with an "old boys game" to follow.
