Rape, molestation charges added in Dalton arrest after Amber Alert

A man arrested Friday in Dalton, Ga., on charges of kidnapping his stepdaughter from Overton County, Tenn., had four more charges added later that day.

After Dalton police arrested Wayne Harness, 37, who was the subject of an Amber Alert on Friday, they initially charged him with being a fugitive.

Later, detectives added two counts each of aggravated child molestation and statutory rape, according to Dalton Police spokesman Bruce Frazier.

"We're going to let him face the charges in Tennessee first," Frazier said, "and then we'll bring him back, based on what the district attorney decides."

Current plans, Frazier said, are for Harness to be extradited to Tennessee on Monday.
