'Make the best of tough times' and more letters to the editors

Make the best of tough times

Every crisis offers opportunities, according to the American Management Association.

Privatize the post office to make it profitable?

Privatize public schools to end the 40-year decline in public schools. Since New Orleans public schools became (charter schools), they have had a big improvement and a lot of publicity.

Three large corporations have opened in Vietnam.

If all America does not end union domination, then all America could be like the failing state of California.

Veterans Memorial seeks supporters

The Sequatchie County Veterans Memorial invites you to Dunlap, Tenn., to view our memorial. Through generous private donations, we have built a Veterans Memorial Park that rivals any in the state of Tennessee. Visit the memorial near Sequatchie County High School on Highway 28. You also may donate by calling our office at 423-949-9000, or stop by 14985 Rankin Ave. in Dunlap.

The recent arrival of an A-4M attack aircraft has created excitement and interest. There still is room to have a loved one or relative who served in our nation's armed forces memorialized by inscribing their name on one of our granite panels ($100 donation).

Signature paver bricks ($50 donation) also are available and will be incorporated into the memorial site.

Once again, we would like to thank you for the amazing support we have received. We look forward to seeing you all at the memorial site for its dedication this Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Please help us by donating now!

TOM HICKEY

Director, Sequatchie Valley Veterans Memorial Park

Dunlap, Tenn.

Mr.King,only 11% of America's workforce is unionized,yet they "dominate"? Who'd-a-thunk it?

Shame on them anyway for demanding fair wages and safe working conditions!

acerigger, how dare you imply that all unionized workers do is demand "fair wages and safe working conditions!" It goes way way beyond that pal. And the percentage may just be 11 but the influence impacts a heck of a lot more people than just that. Like so much else in our society, unions stepped way over the line a long time ago from their true purpose,"fair wages and safe working conditions" and that has had a negative impact in a wide range of areas. See California and other overunionized places.

Because, Mr. King, those "charter schools* only pick the creme de la crop to begin with. The kids who aren't already struggling academincally.

Mr. King - go back to your "summer home" in Florida. I'm sure Marco Rubio would warmly welcome you there.
