Dalton, Ga. - The Georgia High School Association ruled that the Dalton High School football team used an ineligible player this season. Dalton officials announced this morning that the program will appeal the decision that ruled linebacker Corey Smith ineligible.
In the decision, the GHSA ruled that Dalton will have to forfeit four victories in which Smith played. Two of those wins were 7A-AAA wins.
Dalton, which has had a winning record for 51 consecutive years, is now 2-6 overall after the ruling and pending the appeal.
