A 16-year-old boy from Ooltewah is dead after a single-vehicle crash around 11:30 p.m. last night at 7526 Sims Road.

HCSO Traffic Investigators say the boy, who was driving a 1994 Honda Accord, was traveling east on Sims Road. When he rounded a curve in the road and attempted to brake, the vehicle slid off the roadway, striking a tree, police said.

Speed as well as wet roadway conditions are considered factors in the crash, police said.

The boy's name will not be released until next of kin are notified, police said.
