MEUZAC, France - Caroline Hensley of Hixson earned the bronze medal Saturday in the women's slalom finals of the biennial U21 World Water Ski Championships and leads the women's overall standings with tricks and jump finals scheduled today. The United States is first in the team competition with France second and Australia third. Peru's Delphine Culigan won the slalom gold medal and France's Manon Costard got the silver. U.S. teammate Lauren Morgan of Odessa, Fla., is second overall to Hensley, a Baylor School graduate and University of Alabama skier, with Australia's Jacinta Carroll third. Hensley won the slalom and overall titles at the 2008 Junior Worlds in Peru.

Auto Racing

• Season points leaders Booger Brooks and Dallas Brooks won the A-Hobby and B-Hobby races, respectively, Friday night at Boyd's Speedway. Blake Armitage was second and Jody Hixson was third in A-Hobby; Corey Sanders and Mike Chapman were second and third in B-Hobby. Front Runner season points leader Thomas Gilbert won in the front-wheel drive classification with Daniel Burnette second and Richard Hickman third, just as they stand in points. Tim Crawley won the Sprint Cars feature, and Rick Goss, Jeremy Anderson and Ron Bishop were first through third in Mini Sprints.

• MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Lee University men's soccer team scored the first six goals and won 7-1 over Mountain State in tournament play Saturday at Mount Vernon Nazarene in Ohio. Theodore Dweh scored two goals in the first 11 minutes and assisted on one by Josh Ball in between for the Flames (2-1), and Ball assisted on goals by Mohamed Aden and Gregory Smith as the lead grew to 5-0 by the midpoint of the second half. Sias Reyneke netted the final two Lee goals with assists from Sebastian Vallejo and Josh Inglis. Stanley Magwano assisted on Dweh's second score.

• WHEATON, Ill. - North Central College scored five minutes before halftime and edged Covenant 1-0 Saturday in the Bob Baptista Invitational men's soccer tournament. Senior goalkeeper John Eger made five saves for the young Scots, who were outshot 19-10 in falling by the same score as in their opener Friday night against host Wheaton.

• Oklahoma Baptist scored midway through each half and defeated Covenant 2-0 in women's soccer Saturday night on Lookout Mountain. Courtney Anderson and Lauren Cartigue had the goals for the visitors (1-2). Hannah Bales made seven saves in goal for the Lady Scots (0-1-1).

• ATHENS, Tenn. - The Tennessee Wesleyan soccer teams split home games Saturday against Cumberland University, the TWC men winning 2-0 after the TWC women lost 2-1 in overtime. Jose Lezama and Luke Winter scored second-half goals for the host Bulldogs, the latter from a Casey Johnston free kick in the closing minutes. Maddie Thomas scored the tying goal 14 minutes into the second half for the TWC women, but Rhianne Parsons' goal in the first minute of overtime won for the Lebanon, Tenn., team. Kristen Davis had eight saves in defeat.

• DAYTON, Tenn. - Tom Hemmings assisted on an early goal by Andrew Knighten and scored from a Gustavo Angel assist in the second half as Bryan College beat visiting Trevecca Nazarene 2-0 in men's soccer Saturday night. Pierce Kiembi also assisted on the opening goal , and Tyler Fuhler got the shutout with three saves. The Bryan women lost 3-0 at Asbury with Stephanie Gagnon making eight saves; the hosts outshot the Lady Lions 26-3.

• LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Lynchburg College women's soccer team, ranked 18th in NCAA Division III, beat visiting Sewanee 3-0 in the season opener for both teams Saturday. Shelley Hoath scored in the first half and Brittany Klippstein and Dessi Dupuy added second-half goals for the Hornets, who outshot the Tigers 26-9. Britt Williams made eight saves in defeat.

• BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Sewanee men's soccer team faces Blackburn today in Birmingham-Southern's tournament after losing 1-0 to Mississippi College in Friday's evenly played season opener. The Choctaws' Nick Murphy netted a penalty kick six minutes into the second half. Junior midfielder Sam Biyo had three shots on goal for the Tigers, who were outshot 15-14 and were even in corner kicks at 4.
